Dr. Dan Werb, Executive Director
Dan Werb, PhD is an epidemiologist and policy analyst working at the intersection of addictions, drug policy, and HIV. Beyond his work as Director of the ICSDP, Dr. Werb is a Visiting Scholar in the Division of Global Public Health at the University of California, San Diego where he is co-investigator on the Proyecto El Cuete study, which evaluates the implementation of drug policy reforms in Tijuana, Mexico, and their impact on access to addiction treatment and HIV risk behaviours among people who inject drugs. Dr. Werb is also an Affiliate Scientist at the Centre for Urban Health Solutions (C-UHS) at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. His research interests include the prevention of injection drug use initiation, identifying determinants of illicit drug market participation, the effect of drug law enforcement on public health, global drug supply reduction, discretionary policing, and drug market violence. Dr. Werb is a 2012 Trudeau Foundation Scholar, a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellow, and the winner of a 2014 National Magazine Award in Canada for his general interest writing on addiction.

Nazlee Maghsoudi, Knowledge Translation Manager
Nazlee Maghsoudi is the Knowledge Translation Manager at the ICSDP, where she plays a lead role in the production and dissemination of evidence-based drug policy research. She is Strategic Advisor at Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP), having formerly acted as Chair of the Board of Directors. Nazlee is also an Outreach Volunteer at TRIP! Project, a harm reduction program in Toronto that provides education and support to youth in nightlife and party settings. She has been deeply involved in the development of evidence-based drug policies at the grassroots, local, national, and international levels since 2013. Nazlee holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University and a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto.
