Dr. Bluthenthal is the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research (interim) at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).  He is also the Director of the Urban Community Research Center, a Professor in the Sociology Department at CSUDH, and a Senior Social Scientist with the RAND Corporation. His major research contributions have been in the areas of HIV epidemiology and prevention for drug injectors, racial/ethnic differences in alcohol consumption, consequences, and treatment outcomes, and community approaches to health promotion. Dr. Bluthenthal has published more than 75 studies in peer-reviewed scientific journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, Addiction, Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, Social Science and Medicine, and Health Services Research.
