Dr. Hagan is Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Methods Core for the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research at New York University.  Her major research contributions have been in the field of infectious disease consequences of drug use.  Dr. Hagan’s particular area of expertise is the epidemiology and prevention of hepatitis C virus infection, and access to medical management for drug users who are chronically infected with HCV.  She has developed and evaluated interventions to promote sexual health among drug users, and led studies examining the impact of syringe exchange and other harm reduction measures on the health and social functioning of drug users. She currently serves on the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Prevention and Control of Viral Hepatitis in the United States.  She has more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
