Dr. Kral is an infectious disease epidemiologist with expertise in policy-relevant community-based research with urban populations. His research focuses primarily on illicit substance use and HIV. He is currently the principal investigator or co-investigator on several studies funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) investigating the relationship between infectious diseases, substance use, and poverty. He has authored or co-authored more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, American Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Public Health, AIDS, Journal of AIDS, Addiction, and Drug and Alcohol Dependence.
